Tasteandfeel presents Oli Novembre. Do you want to know more about one of the best olive oils from the island of Mallorca?
It’s Sunday on the island of Mallorca. We are on the road to Manacor. Dark clouds are on the horizon.
Buff! We’ve just passed by the exit, Marta will be waiting for us at the crossing.
We turn around. There she is. “Welcome!” she says. “Are you ready? Follow me!”
On the way we think how we would love to live in this place. Typical Mallorcan farms (like the ones in Mallorcasite‘s photos), all surrounded by olive groves.
We’ve already arrived, we are in Finca Son Elsebitx.
Marta introduces us to “the boss”. He is waiting for us between olives, testing a new “umbrella”. They are in the middle of the 2011-2012 harvest .

Why “Oli Novembre”?
The truth is that chosing a name was not easy. We wanted it to be recognisable to the main reference languages in the olive oil markets. After a lot of thinking, we reached a conclusion: why not make it easier? When is our oil produced? In November. So, we decided to call it “Oli Novembre”. Although “Novembre” is a Mallorcan name, we think it is easy to undestand it in English, German, Italian, Portuguese, etc.

How did all start?
Our family has been working the land for many years. Due to cultural and economic changes, our family decided to leave the land and work in another sector of the economy. However, some years ago, after my retirement, I decided to return to the origins of my ancestors, come back to the country and produce one of the best oils on the island. I have a great team and my family is part of it.

How do you see the future?
We are very pleased with our results. We are working to be in the market, especially in foreign countries. We believe in our product, take care of all details. A product must be attractive, both outside and inside. We will continue working to maintain and improve our high standards of quality and presentation.
The visit ended with a tasting of the ”olive juice” from the harvest of 2011-2012 under a few drops of rain.
Olive juice, Mallorcan bread and salt of “Cocons”. Incredible combination.
Thank you very much for such an enjoyable and instructive Sunday.
