Last saturday I was in Madrid, we where two interior designers together looking for interesting places in interior design meaning.
We had lunch and dinner at very interesting restaurants, all of them with a very taken care and special design. I’ll comment about more some of them, but, today, I’ll talk about one that impressed me the most; SALA DE DESPIECE, it just shocked us, it is a concept taken to the limit. Pure concept in service, interior design, and food. Now I understand why it is one of the most fashion and known restaurants in Madrid. Sure you have seen it in a lot of different interior design magazines.
Everything is related, the interior design distribution, de decoration, the food, the way they prepare and serve it, the uniform of the staff. Everything is part of the same big idea.
First impression is shocking, you fill like accessing a butcher, an old style one, with their big and white counters like cutting boards, their metal hooks to hang the meat, the small white shinny tiles covering the walls, and the rest of the furniture in same colors, industrial style and materials.
The menu is hand written imitating the old orders forms.
And what to say about the food, you can imagine it!! Spectacular!! A lot of raw food, both, meat and fish, and they do everything show cooking. Every dish is prepared in a particular way and when they prepare it, staff seems like surgeons in an operation, so thorough. They serve all dishes in a metal tray with a wrapping paper on it, just like the paper they wrap the meat in a butcher.
It is a very nice place to recommend, the feeling once you enter, is not possible to be explained in a text or a picture, so I would encourage you to visit it. But you should be there around 1:00p.m. if you don’t want to have to wait for long, the place fills up fast.
