As a family we were looking for a holiday home we could escape to during the half-term holidays. After spending several minibreaks in the South of France my husband was convinced that we were going to buy an old chateaux midst the vineyards and fix it up. One of my dearest friends (thankfully!) had a different idea. She had purchased in Palma de Mallorca and wanted us to go for a weekend.
A tour all set up...we saw the historical side of Palma, the fantastic restaurants, the different ports and even got to see some calas. We fell in love the city and all the variety it had to offer (not only for grown ups but for children). Palma truly has it all. Breathtaking views...crystalline azure water....the mountains...the city...all at your fingertips.

At the time of our search for a property abroad we were casting our net over Mallorca, Spanish mainland around Marbella and the Algarve in Portugal. We had booked a number of trips to the various locations and prepared visits via one or more estate agents.
Our first visit to Mallorca was coming round in a week and so far we were not impressed with the volume of viewings that we had organized so on a typically rainy Sunday we were catching up with the Sunday papers and noticed an advert for Mallorca Site. With nothing to lose we sent an email explaining what we were after and within a couple of days had a substantially better portfolio of houses to consider plus some very good advice on the areas and places we ought to be looking at.
Needless to say when our visit came around the previous agent continued to unimpress and we quickly set them to one side. Daniel and Gloria though continued to give help and yes even accepting this was their job we have remained as good friends ever since.The actual decision to move here was for us a decision that simply ticked more boxes for what we were looking for and certainly we do not regret it. Four years later we now truly consider this our home. Making a list of what you are hoping to achieve from the move is an important part of the step, advice from such as Daniel and Gloria helped to focus the list and maybe even add some things that we hadn’t considered. At the time apart from the physical characteristics of the house we were looking for we needed to locate a school for our son and create a living environment that gave us access to year round life and golf.
